The Cool Room serves as a laid-back neighbourhood cafe tucked into Fremantle’s Holland Street, offering a cozy spot for breakfast and brunch lovers who appreciate thoughtful, well-crafted meals without the usual fuss of modern cafe culture. Its steady stream of locals and visitors suggests it’s a place where people settle in for a measured, unhurried start to their day or a mid-morning catch-up.

The atmosphere at The Cool Room leans into a relaxed, homey vibe with a touch of creativity and style — think quirky recycled furniture and fresh flowers that complement the adjacent vintage store. It doesn’t feel over-styled or contrived; instead, it’s the kind of spot where the room’s personality grows out of its sustainable approach and welcoming layout.

Food at The Cool Room is where the care shows most clearly. The menu sticks to a sensible range that respects classic breakfast staples while allowing touches of local character, like the creamy gorgonzola melt—a rich, savory highlight featuring runny poached eggs with bacon and Turkish toast. Other dishes lean on fresh, seasonal ingredients paired thoughtfully, such as the smoked salmon with goat cheese and beetroot chutney, showcasing subtle flavor combinations that reward attentive palates.

The coffee here complements the food well, with drinks like the almond mocha standing out. It’s a place where locals might drop in for a well-made coffee to accompany a quiet read, or linger for a full brunch with friends. The vibe suits slower mornings or calm afternoons where the occasional wait time is part of the experience, signaling a kitchen focused on quality over speed.

Service at The Cool Room typically feels warm and unpretentious, with staff who come across as genuinely accommodating without interrupting the relaxed flow of the space. If you're looking for a spot where the ambience encourages easy conversation and the food shows attentive seasoning and solid cooking skills, this part of Fremantle offers a refreshing alternative to the more ubiquitous café scene.

Best times to visit: Weekday mornings or weekends mid-mornings when the neighborhood buzz peaks but remains mellow.

Such a beautiful, relaxing & thoughtful neighbourhood cafe. If you are bored with modern cafe food/ culture - this place is for you! Their food is properly seasoned, hot, and tasty, the menu is sensible & healthy, the plating and presentation is thought out well, and everything is prepared with a high level of skill. The atmosphere doesn’t try too hard, it feels homey, yet it is stylish and creative. Overall, this will be our new breakfast destination. Well done guys, you’ve nailed it.

Such a moorish and unpretentious feel (a good thing) when you step into the cafe, giving a comforting vibe that greets you the moment you step in. The folks are kind, helpful and full of smiles. We ordered the : 1. Smoked Salmon : The goats cheese and beetroot relish combined well with the smoked salmon. The poached eggs were done well - nice and runny, which when eaten all together was very refreshing, with a fusion of flavours playing on the palate. 2. Haloumi Bruschetta : The herb salad was so good. Simple but yet bang! Haloumi was cooked well, not too salty but just right! Good texture, play of colours, and breadth. All in all, portions were great - 2 generous pieces of buttered bread; lots of greens that brought zing and colour. I also liked the fact that the menu was minimalistic allowing the folks to focus and do justice to what was being ordered.

Was a cozy and vibey spot to grab a brunch fix. Had a slightly long wait of ~30mins for our food to arrive. It was still a pleasant experience!

This is a very stylish and colorful cafe that is filled with quirky recycled furniture and fresh flowers. It has a very laid-back, sustainable vibe that makes you feel immediately at ease. The fact that it is right next to a vintage store adds to its unique and interesting charm. It is a delightful find for anyone who appreciates a space that is creative, friendly, and a little bit different.

After getting plenty of breakfasts around Freo, I can totally say one of the top ones by far, Food and coffee were an absolutely 10/10, everything so fresh and so well balanced. Talking about the service, the barista and waitress was Luka, who wasn’t just doing an amazing job but also being nice and funny with us, Pet friendly, quiet and chill place, good food and hospitality… One of the top places in the area 100%

The Cool Room Cafe in Fremantle is a charming spot with a laid-back, casual atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at ease. The quirky use of recycled furniture and decor adds to its unique charm and gives the space a distinctly Fremantle vibe. It’s clear a lot of thought has gone into creating an inviting and sustainable environment. The menu offers a selection of delicious options, though I’d love to see a few more cold choices, like a Bircher muesli, to round out the offerings. There are also a handful of tasty pastries to enjoy, perfect for a quick snack. Their coffee is excellent—well-crafted and ticking all the boxes for your standard favourites. We visited on a busy morning and were advised upfront about a bit of a wait for food, which we appreciated. When the food did arrive, it was well worth it. The bread stood out, particularly a grilled focaccia that was just divine—crispy, flavourful, and a perfect base for the dishes. Overall, The Cool Room Cafe is a delightful find. It’s the kind of place you’re glad to stumble across, with its warm atmosphere and satisfying menu. If you visit, I’d highly recommend having a stroll through the vintage store next door—it’s a fun extension of the Cool Room’s eclectic charm. Definitely worth a visit!
